NTT DATA has announced the appointment of Joe Pace as Chief Operating Officer for its Global Data Centers division.

Based in Sacramento, California, Pace will report directly to Doug Adams, President and CEO of NTT Global Data Centers, taking over from Florian Winkler, who recently departed the company. In his new role, Pace will oversee the development and enhancement of global operational functions aimed at increasing scalability, efficiency, and delivering high-quality services to clients worldwide.

Digital Realty has announced the appointment of Marcel Louw as Managing Director for Africa, tasked with leading strategic operations across the continent and expanding its renowned global data centre platform, PlatformDIGITAL.

In his new role, Louw will oversee the company’s activities in Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Ghana, building on existing operations and driving further growth. He will report to Paula Cogan, Managing Director for EMEA at Digital Realty, supporting the company’s long-term vision for Africa’s digital development.

Kenya has announced the creation of a dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) skilling project board aimed at equipping 100,000 public sector employees with essential AI capabilities.

The initiative was officially launched during the inaugural meeting of the project implementation board for the Regional Centre of Competence (RCOC) on Digital and AI Skills for Public Service.

During a high-level dialogue on African development at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in July, Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed emphasised a critical challenge: Africa must invest heavily in developing digital skills among its youth to harness the continent’s demographic growth for economic transformation.

With Africa’s youth population projected to reach nearly 830 million by 2050, the continent faces an unprecedented opportunity — and a significant risk if this potential is not properly nurtured. Mohammed underscored that digital technology is a powerful lever for employment and economic growth, yet a large portion of young Africans remain excluded from this digital revolution.
