While Africa’s infrastructure ambitions have historically struggled under systemic execution challenges, a new report from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), titled Bridging Africa’s Infrastructure Execution Gap, presents a compelling case for change.
The study reveals that the continent’s portfolio of approximately 130 transnational projects across energy, transport, digital, and water sectors can be significantly accelerated through innovative coordination and strategic private sector engagement. This approach could unlock up to $6 billion in GDP growth for every $1 billion invested, transforming Africa’s development trajectory.

The Huawei Cloud Summit Northern Africa has successfully wrapped up, drawing over 600 decision-makers from both public and private sectors across more than 10 countries. The event served as a crucial platform for envisioning the region’s digital future and exploring opportunities for rapid technological advancement.
Since launching its Egypt Region in 2024, Huawei Cloud has experienced remarkable growth in Northern Africa, expanding its footprint by 140% within a year. The platform now supports more than 300 customers and 200 partners engaged in innovative projects, while also training over 15,000 developers to accelerate the region’s shift towards intelligent digital solutions. Africa's digital economy is evolving rapidly, with artificial intelligence (AI) emerging as a key driver of transformation across industries. As businesses increasingly adopt AI and generative AI (GenAI) solutions, the demand for robust, scalable and efficient data centre infrastructure is at an all-time high. The challenge lies in ensuring that data centres can meet the rising computational demands while maintaining efficiency and reliability.
According to Gartner, global spending on data centre systems is expected to increase by almost a quarter (23.2%) in 2025, largely due to AI-driven growth. A recent Mordor Intelligence report, Africa Data Center Cooling – Market Share Analysis, Industry Trends & Statistics, Growth Forecasts up to 2030, estimates that African data centre market size is expected to reach 1.43 thousand MW by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 12.86%. Further, the market is expected to generate colocation revenue of USD 750.2 Million in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 1,709.6 Million by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 17.91% during the forecast period of 2025 to 2030.
