04 February 2026

Xneelo has commenced construction on a second data centre at its Samrand campus in Gauteng, signaling a significant expansion of its infrastructure footprint amid rising demand for hosting and cloud services across South Africa.

The new facility will replicate the design of Xneelo’s existing Samrand data centre, incorporating advancements aimed at boosting efficiency to support next-generation cloud solutions, colocation, and self-managed server offerings. Positioned strategically between Johannesburg and Pretoria, the site was chosen for its reliable power infrastructure, enabling the company to deliver consistent, large-scale performance.

Expected to be operational by October 2027, the facility underscores Xneelo’s long-term commitment to providing stable, scalable infrastructure for local businesses. Deon de Villiers, CEO of Xneelo, emphasized the importance of this investment, noting that with over two decades of hosting expertise, the company understands that resilient infrastructure is fundamental to the growth of South Africa’s digital economy.

Juan-Pierre van Zyl, the company’s data centre facilities manager, highlighted that the original Samrand facility has surpassed industry benchmarks for power efficiency. Building on this legacy, the new data centre will offer increased energy capacity to support an expanding product portfolio, including recently launched cloud services, while maintaining high levels of availability and performance.

As the South African cloud market is projected to surpass R100 billion by 2029, Xneelo’s latest expansion aims to position the company at the forefront of the country’s digital transformation.
