ADC East African Leader Dan Kwach announces departure

09 December 2025

Dan Kwach, the East African Executive for Africa Data Centres (ADC), has announced his departure from the organisation after nearly two decades of pivotal contributions to the region’s digital infrastructure landscape.

In a heartfelt LinkedIn post accompanied by a reflective video, Kwach shared that he has received “the blessings to exit” as he prepares to take on a new role outside the Cassava Technologies group.

Kwach’s journey with ADC has been instrumental in transforming the data centre industry in Kenya and beyond. He joined at a time when data centres were still a novel concept in the region, and he played a crucial role in designing, building, and commercialising ADC’s first facilities. His efforts helped turn a technical project into a successful regional enterprise, emphasizing that the goal was not just to establish good infrastructure but to generate significant commercial value from it.

With a background in IT and early experience at Kenya Data Networks, Kwach built a strong foundation in mission-critical infrastructure, which positioned him for leadership. Under his stewardship, ADC expanded into a trusted hub for cloud providers, telecommunications companies, and over 60% of Kenya’s banking sector. He also spearheaded expansion efforts in Nairobi, Kigali, and other key markets, cementing ADC’s role as a regional digital powerhouse.

Kwach is widely respected for his leadership style rooted in humility, integrity, and leading by example. He has been a vocal advocate for innovation and future-proofing, particularly as emerging technologies like artificial intelligence begin to reshape power and cooling demands for data centres.

“Let’s be flexible enough that we don’t get disrupted by tomorrow’s technology,” he often remarked.

In his farewell message, Kwach expressed deep appreciation for colleagues, customers, and partners, celebrating the ecosystem they built together. He grounded his reflection in faith and family, adding, “Nitawamiss (I will miss you) is an understatement. The world is indeed your oyster.”

His departure signals the end of an important chapter for ADC and for East Africa’s digital industry — a journey that moved from early experimentation to establishing a solid foundation for the region’s digital future. Kwach’s influence and leadership have left an indelible mark on the industry he helped shape.
