Google Cloud has announced an expansion of its partnership with Digicloud Africa, appointing the company as a Security Operations Distribution Partner to provide African organisations with advanced AI-driven cybersecurity solutions.
Since 2018, Digicloud has served as a distributor for Google Cloud, and this enhanced role enables resellers and partners across the continent to assist businesses in bolstering their security defenses with enterprise-grade products and services, leveraging Google’s global expertise alongside local African insights.
This move comes amid a concerning rise in cybercrime across Africa, with INTERPOL’s 2025 Africa Cyber Threat Assessment Report indicating that 90% of countries in the region believe there is a pressing need for substantial improvements in law enforcement and prosecution capabilities. The report highlights the growing severity and impact of cyber threats faced by the continent, underscoring the importance of robust security measures.
Google Cloud’s Security Operations platform aims to help security professionals modernise their security operations centres beyond simple alert monitoring and response. It offers integrated capabilities, frontline threat intelligence, and AI-infused workloads essential for identifying and defending against cyber adversaries. Recognising that African markets are unique yet face global threats, Google emphasises its commitment to developing strategies that enable organisations to detect and mitigate these risks effectively.
Wunan Li, Google Cloud’s global lead for Security Ecosystem and Business Development, expressed confidence in Digicloud’s role, stating that the company’s proven dedication and success in Africa over the past seven years made it the ideal partner to deliver Google’s security solutions to the region’s businesses.
Gregory MacLennan, CEO and co-founder of Digicloud Africa, noted that collaborating with local resellers allows businesses to receive the necessary support for deploying and managing these sophisticated solutions. He emphasised that by making Google Cloud’s cybersecurity offerings accessible through partners, the company is extending its expertise and broad range of solutions to more African enterprises. MacLennan also highlighted the importance for businesses to partner with brands committed to innovation and continuous enhancement of security strategies, pointing out Google Cloud’s recent significant investments and acquisitions as evidence of its dedication to staying ahead of evolving cyber threats.
