This achievement highlights the company's dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and underscores its commitment to delivering resilient, high-quality facilities in Africa’s most populous country.
Karl Toriola, CEO of MTN Nigeria, emphasised that this certification embodies the company’s diligent efforts, strategic focus, and collaborative approach with its partners, all aligned with international best practices. He noted that it reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to building infrastructure that supports Nigeria’s digital future while maintaining standards of excellence, resilience, and compliance to provide greater value to stakeholders.
Launched in July, the Dabengwa Data Centre is among Nigeria’s largest prefabricated modular data centres, initially comprising 96 prefabricated containers. Equipped with AI-driven energy optimisation and hybrid cloud capabilities, the facility is designed to ensure high reliability and performance for enterprise customers. The Tier III certification, an internationally recognised standard for data centre reliability, guarantees multiple independent pathways for power and cooling, enabling routine maintenance without service disruptions. Facilities with this certification typically achieve an impressive uptime of 99.982%, translating to no more than 1.8 hours of expected downtime annually.
Previously, the Dabengwa Data Centre received Tier III Certification for Design Documentation, making it one of only four data centres in Nigeria to hold both design and constructed facility certifications. This milestone marks a significant step in MTN Nigeria’s infrastructure development, enhancing business continuity and bolstering its enterprise market positioning.
