Regional leaders inaugurate Tier III data centre in Mali

During the third edition of Digital Week in Mali, Minister of Communication, Digital Economy, and Administration Modernization, Mr. Alhamdou Ag Ilyène, officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art Tier III Data Center on January 31, 2026.

The event was attended by digital ministers from the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), including Mrs. Aminata Zerbo/Sabane of Burkina Faso and Mr. Adji Ali Salatou of Niger, underscoring the regional importance of this strategic infrastructure.

This milestone signifies that France, Morocco, and Tunisia are now physically linked through the Medusa cable, substantially boosting digital connectivity across the Mediterranean region. With the final splice in place, the project moves from the installation phase into the final preparations for commercial service, bringing enhanced bandwidth and resilient connectivity to the area.

East and Central Africa’s largest hyperscale, carrier-neutral, AI-ready data centre, iXAfrica Data Centre Limited, is set to host Oracle’s new cloud region in Nairobi, Kenya, marking a significant milestone in the region’s digital transformation.

Announced by President William Ruto in January 2024, this partnership will establish the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) region in Kenya, addressing the rising demand for OCI services across the country.
