CSquared seeks membership at LINX Accra

CSquared has formally submitted an application to join LINX Accra, the recently launched Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Ghana.

This move aligns with CSquared’s mission to foster a more inclusive and interconnected African digital landscape and follows its recent expansion of the West African fibre backbone.

LINX Accra, operated by the London Internet Exchange (LINX), serves as a fully redundant, multi-site interconnection hub designed to future-proof Ghana’s digital infrastructure. With a physical presence at Onix and PAIX data centres, and an upcoming site at Digital Realty’s ACR2 facility, LINX Accra offers low-latency, cost-effective peering solutions that keep local internet traffic within Ghana, reducing reliance on international transit routes.

“Having CSquared as a new network within the LINX community, and as one of our first champions connecting to LINX Accra, is fantastic. We highly value the support of such a key regional player in connectivity,” said Jennifer Holmes, CEO of LINX.

CSquared’s application follows a significant infrastructure milestone: the deployment of a cross-border fibre backbone connecting several West African nations, including Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, and Burkina Faso. This high-capacity, low-latency network complements subsea cable systems like Equiano, where CSquared is the landing partner in Togo, enhancing regional connectivity and resilience.

“Joining LINX Accra is a natural step in our mission to empower Africa’s digital future. Our expanded fibre backbone aims to eliminate single points of failure and provide scalable, resilient connectivity. Peering locally in Ghana will help us build a stronger, more efficient internet ecosystem for the region,” said Ian Paterson, CEO of CSquared.

The partnership between CSquared’s terrestrial infrastructure and LINX Accra’s interconnection platform is poised to accelerate digital transformation, support local ISPs and enterprises, and attract global digital services to West Africa. This collaboration also highlights Ghana’s strategic position as one of Africa’s most connected countries, thanks to its vibrant tech ecosystem, strategic location, and robust digital infrastructure.
