TD Africa, West Africa’s leading technology distribution company, has taken a significant step to support Nigeria’s energy transition and digital growth by signing a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Schneider Electric.

This partnership aims to develop future-ready, AI-powered data centres across Nigeria, marking a major milestone in the country’s infrastructure development. The agreement was announced during Schneider Electric’s Innovation Day Nigeria 2025 event in Lagos, an occasion that brought together over 450 industry leaders, government officials, engineers, and technology partners to discuss the theme “Unlocking Nigeria’s Energy Future: Policy, Innovation, and Investment.” The event also celebrated Schneider Electric’s 25th anniversary in Nigeria.

Zinox Group chairman Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh, who signed the MoU on behalf of TD Africa, emphasised that the partnership is a strategic move to bolster Nigeria’s global competitiveness in an increasingly digital landscape. He highlighted that building AI-powered, resilient, and sustainable data centres is not only an investment in technology but also a vital step toward enhancing the competitiveness of Nigerian enterprises over the next decade. Ekeh expressed optimism that, together with Schneider Electric, they are laying the groundwork for a smarter, greener, and more prosperous Nigeria.

The MoU sets out plans for next-generation data centre infrastructure capable of supporting both core and edge computing environments. These facilities will prioritise energy efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with international standards, with the goal of reducing operational costs, lowering carbon emissions, and strengthening Nigeria’s digital resilience amid rising demand for cloud, AI, and automation technologies. Prominent stakeholders from Nigeria’s Energy Commission, Rural Electrification Agency, Nigeria LNG, and SEforALL participated in panel discussions emphasising the importance of increased public-private collaboration to accelerate Nigeria’s energy transition.

Through this partnership, TD Africa solidifies its role as a catalyst in West Africa’s digital transformation, driving investments and ecosystems that will advance Nigeria’s ambitions for clean energy and technological innovation.
