Somalia’s Ministry of Communications and Technology is actively collaborating with the country’s telecom operators to enhance service quality and foster a stronger partnership between the public and private sectors.

This initiative follows the recent National Multi-Stakeholder Consultation held earlier this month in partnership with the International Telecommunications Union, which aimed to refine the nation’s digital transformation strategy for 2025-2030.

In a high-level meeting held yesterday in Mogadishu, Minister of Communications and Technology Mohamed Adam Moalim convened with chief executives from leading telecom companies, including Hormuud Telecom, Somtel, Telesom, and Golis Telecom. The discussion focused on assessing the sector’s progress, identifying ongoing challenges, and outlining Somalia’s long-term vision for becoming a digitally connected nation.

Moalim emphasised the government’s unwavering commitment to digital transformation, highlighting plans to establish modern infrastructure capable of providing reliable, accessible, and innovative services to Somali citizens. The meeting is seen as part of a broader strategy to strengthen cooperation between the government and telecom providers, accelerate digital progress, and develop a robust communications and technology ecosystem across East Africa.

Expressing his aspirations, Moalim stated that Somalia aims to become one of the leading countries in harnessing modern technology. He affirmed that the government is dedicated to delivering digital services that simplify everyday life for its people while actively engaging local professionals and experts to support this vision.
