Tlou Energy Limited has announced that revenue generation from its Kala Data Centre project at the Lesedi gas-to-power facility in Botswana is imminent.
The company, listed on the ASX and Botswana’s BSE, reports that major progress has been made, with civil and gas gathering works completed, the first data-centre module delivered, and gas-fired generators en route to site.
Following a contractual heads of agreement with UAE-based Kala Data FZCO in March 2025, the project team advanced technical and site planning activities. This included designing optimal layouts for gas gathering, power distribution, cabling, and access logistics, as well as managing noise and heat to facilitate a staged ramp-up of operations.
The data centre modules are purpose-built for the harsh desert environment of the Kalahari, designed to withstand high temperatures and dust. The first module has been delivered and is currently undergoing commissioning. The modular approach allows for phased deployment of additional units aligned with increases in gas production and power capacity.
“We are now on the cusp of first revenue. The site is fully prepared, the first module is being commissioned, and only generator installation remains before operations begin. This milestone validates our strategy of developing scalable, revenue-generating energy projects in Botswana. As we expand capacity with additional modules and integrate renewable energy in future phases, significant upside potential remains,” said Colm Cloonan, Tlou Energy’s Managing Director.
