WIOCC has entered into a framework agreement with Mozambique’s national telecommunications company, Tmcel, to collaborate on high-capacity connectivity solutions across Mozambique and the broader Southern African region.

This partnership aims to combine Tmcel’s extensive national infrastructure and local market expertise with WIOCC’s regional and international connectivity capabilities. Notably, WIOCC’s resources include capacity on the 2Africa East subsea cable and terrestrial routes into South Africa, enhancing Mozambique’s connectivity resilience and access.

The agreement is designed to bolster Mozambique’s digital backbone by strengthening both subsea and terrestrial infrastructure, positioning the country as a regional digital gateway and a crucial hub for data traffic within Southern and Eastern Africa.

“This collaboration will better position WIOCC to maximize its investments in Mozambique by enabling efficient delivery of digital services to local clients and across the region, including Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, and South Africa,” said James Wekesa, Group Chief Commercial Officer at WIOCC. “By leveraging WIOCC’s scalable capacity and regional network alongside Tmcel’s robust national infrastructure and government collaboration, we are laying a strong foundation for enhanced connectivity, inclusive growth, and expanded digital services across Mozambique and beyond.”

This alliance underscores a shared commitment to advancing digital infrastructure, promoting regional integration, and unlocking new opportunities for economic development through improved connectivity.
