Kilimanjaro Telecom has launched a new data centre which was officially inaugurated by Tanzania’s Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jerry William Silaa, during his recent official visit to Uganda.
While specific details about the size or capacity of the data centre were not disclosed, the new facility is poised to become a critical communication hub for Uganda and its neighbouring nations. It is expected to enhance regional connectivity by integrating with the National Telecommunications Backbone managed by Tanzania’s Tanzania Telecommunication Corporation (TTCL).
“Reliable communication and regional cooperation are key pillars in achieving digital development. This centre is a great example of the success we can achieve by working together as an East African community,” said Minister Silaa.
The launch underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure across the East African region, promoting collaboration and enabling broader access to reliable communication services for businesses and communities.
