Raxio Data Centres has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Digital Transition, marking a strategic step to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and reinforce its data sovereignty initiatives.
Under the agreement, the government will utilize Raxio’s newly inaugurated Tier III-certified colocation facility, CIV1, located in Abidjan. Launched in September 2024, CIV1 is designed to support the country’s digital infrastructure with advanced features, including 24/7 access, comprehensive monitoring and supervision, and a scalable, redundant power system to ensure high availability.
Raxio highlighted that CIV1 will offer seamless, carrier-neutral connectivity to both national and international networks, facilitating greater integration and data flow. The facility’s strategic role is to underpin Côte d’Ivoire’s broader digital transformation efforts by providing a secure environment for government and enterprise data management.
This partnership is considered a major milestone in operationalizing Côte d’Ivoire’s data sovereignty strategy, emphasizing the importance of local data storage and management to support public services and digital economy growth.
CIV1 was positioned as the country’s first Tier III-certified, carrier-neutral, and cloud-neutral data center at launch, with a planned capacity of 800 racks and an IT load capacity of 3MW, positioning Côte d’Ivoire as a key digital hub in West Africa.
