Ethio Telecom recently conducted a workshop aimed at empowering microfinance institutions and SACCOs across Ethiopia, focusing on the introduction of a new cloud-powered core banking system designed to modernise financial operations at the grassroots level.

The event brought together participants from various microfinance and cooperative institutions to demonstrate how the innovative platform can enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and digital security.

During the workshop, Ethio Telecom’s team provided a comprehensive demonstration of the new core banking solution, highlighting its capacity to boost productivity and facilitate seamless digital transformation. The system is tailored specifically to support the digitisation efforts of microfinance and SACCO institutions, enabling them to better serve their customers and adapt to the increasing demands of digital finance.

Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with Ethio Telecom’s experts, who addressed both technical and operational questions, showcasing the platform’s ease of integration and practical application. Senior executives from Ethio Telecom attended the session, alongside stakeholders from various microfinance institutions and SACCOs, emphasising the importance of collaboration in achieving Ethiopia’s digital financial inclusion goals.

This initiative aligns with Ethio Telecom’s broader contribution to Ethiopia’s Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy, which aims to foster an inclusive and technology-driven economy. The deployment of the new digital banking solution complements the growth of Telebirr, Ethio Telecom’s mobile money platform, by strengthening the financial infrastructure at the institutional level and supporting the country’s vision for widespread digital financial services.
