Wingu Africa has raised $60 million in funding from Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), a leading South African financial services group.

The fresh capital will be directed toward expanding digital infrastructure — including data centres and submarine cable systems — in key markets such as Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. The primary aim is to enhance internet access, reduce latency, and foster regional connectivity.

“This is not just an investment in infrastructure, but also in Africa’s digital independence. We are building the capabilities that will drive innovation, accelerate economic growth, and connect Africa for the future,” said Wingu Group CEO Anthony Voscarides.
