Nokia has announced that Reflex will deploy its advanced Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) solution to upgrade and expand their network, enabling quicker onboarding of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and delivering improved broadband experiences for South African businesses and communities. This deployment will also help Reflex optimize space and power usage while ensuring their network is prepared for ongoing growth nationwide.

South Africa’s demand for high-speed broadband is increasing rapidly due to ongoing digital transformation in both urban and rural areas. However, reaching underserved regions remains a significant challenge. By replacing its existing BNGs with Nokia’s scalable solution, Reflex aims to bridge the digital divide and empower more ISPs to connect communities across the country. Research indicates that expanding broadband access could substantially boost the African economy, highlighting the importance of investments like this. Nokia’s solution addresses key issues of scalability, efficiency, and environmental sustainability, supporting Reflex’s goal to meet South Africa’s evolving connectivity needs responsibly.

“Partnering with companies like Reflex from Myriad Group, which values flexible, scalable networks through Neutral Host models, is vital in tackling South Africa’s connectivity challenges,” said Toni Pellegrino, Managing Director of South Africa and Head of Network Infrastructure for Southern and Eastern Africa at Nokia. “By replacing legacy BNGs with our Nokia 7750 Service Router platform, Reflex can onboard multiple ISPs and their subscribers with minimal equipment, lowering upfront costs, reducing energy consumption, and supporting a more sustainable, inclusive digital future.”

“Reflex’s mission is to provide every South African ISP with instant, carrier-grade access to a truly Tier 1 network. As a valued reseller of Nokia’s solutions, we believe in their capabilities so strongly that we deploy them in our own core network,” said Charles Castle, Commercial & Sales Executive at Reflex Carrier Solutions. “Integrating Nokia’s 7750 SR-1 Broadband Network Gateways and carrier-grade NAT into the Reflex backbone enhances capacity and intelligence while reducing space, power, and complexity. This creates a future-ready platform that is scalable, secure, and always operational — delivering unmatched uptime, redundancy, and high-speed performance. With Nokia as our technology partner, Reflex can launch new services for ISPs nationwide in days rather than months, ensuring communities and their service providers enjoy the best broadband experience today and well into the future, supported by our highly skilled local engineering teams.”

Reflex’s deployment leverages Nokia’s 7750 SR-1 platform, integrated with Carrier-Grade NAT (CG-NAT). This rollout will not only expand Reflex’s network coverage across South Africa but also optimize operational efficiency, fostering a faster, more reliable, and inclusive digital economy.
