Wingu.Africa has commenced the expansion of its data centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, following a groundbreaking ceremony. The expansion is set to enhance the facility’s capacity significantly, bringing it to a total of 3MW, as confirmed by co-founder and CEO of Wingu Group in Tanzania, Anthony Voscarides.
Wingu.Africa indicated that the upgrade will incorporate “considerably more white space” to facilitate additional racks, pods, and cages within the facility. Local media reports estimate that the company will invest around $50 million in this project.
The Dar es Salaam data centre first launched in 2022, marking the company’s commitment to establishing robust digital infrastructure in the region.
“Our carrier-neutral facility embodies our steadfast commitment to excellence and innovation. It is designed to meet the growing demands of modern digital operations and will drive forward the technological advancement of our region,” said Voscarides.
