Gabon is taking a significant step towards becoming a leading digital hub in Central Africa with the commencement of construction on a new national data centre.
The project, marking a key element of the country’s ‘Digital Fast Track’ initiative, is being developed in partnership with the Gabonese government and U.S. technology firm Cybastion. Construction is being managed by PORTEO S.A., a renowned African infrastructure firm, known for its experience in delivering complex projects like a Tier III+ data centre in Côte d’Ivoire.
The foundation stone was laid on 27 March, signifying the start of a project expected to provide essential digital infrastructure, driving economic modernization and supporting various sectors, including health, education, finance, and scientific research.
