Nokia has announced that EXA Infrastructure, a leading provider of critical digital infrastructure, has chosen Nokia’s advanced optical transport technology to expand its network capabilities.
This upgrade aims to support growing customer demands for high-capacity, low-latency connectivity — especially between major data centres — while delivering greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The new 1.2T-per-channel optical network will enhance EXA Infrastructure’s ability to deliver high-bandwidth services across its extensive international fibre network, which spans 155,000km across 37 countries. The upgraded infrastructure will improve data centre interconnectivity with reduced latency, supporting mission-critical and hyperscale services for governments and enterprises. Following a successful industry-first trial of Nokia’s ICE7 coherent optics in Europe, EXA Infrastructure has selected the Nokia 1830 GX solution with ICE7 technology to ensure a smooth transition from its existing ICE6-based system.
Nokia’s high-capacity optical solution will enable EXA Infrastructure to deliver robust, future-proof connectivity at the lowest possible cost per bit. Power consumption per bit is a critical factor for data centre growth. Nokia’s solutions help reduce power requirements, supporting EXA’s sustainability goals while meeting increasing bandwidth needs.
