iXAfrica Data Centres recently inaugurated the first phase of its hyperscale data centre in Nairobi. Dubbed NBOX1, the 4.5MW unit aims to meet the growing needs for data storage, cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI) in East Africa.
It comprises 780 racks and is carrier neutral, meaning customers will be able to choose the connectivity operator to route their internet traffic or cloud services.
“We are proud to unveil the first phase of our hyperscale data centre, which is ready to host the first hyperscale developments in the region as well as major government workloads, to significantly contribute to the digitalization of services and cloud adoption in our country,” said Snehar Shah, CEO at iXAfrica Data Centres.
The facility is part of a larger 22.5 MW campus being developed to provide secure connectivity and scalable hosting capacity to regional businesses and organisations. It comes amid growing demand for digital infrastructure and cloud services in Africa.
