IBTC DC Academy, South Africa’s specialist data centre training and certification programme, has announced that Master Power Technologies and Digital Parks Africa have joined its structured talent pipeline as official ecosystem partners. The partnership brings together a world-class OEM training facility and a live, operational data centre environment to deliver the practical training component of the IBTC DC Academy programme – a critical missing piece in the development of employment-ready data centre engineers across Africa.
A partnership built around practice
The IBTC DC Academy talent pipeline takes recent graduates and professionals from adjacent industries through structured training, internationally recognised certification, practical internship experience, and ultimately into employment with DC operators. Until now, the practical training element – where students get hands-on time with the equipment they will work with – has been the most difficult component to deliver consistently at scale.
Master Power Technologies’ newly launched training facility changes that. As an OEM, Master Power Technologies offers students the ability to interact directly with data centre infrastructure equipment in a purpose-built training environment: powering systems up and down, working through fault scenarios, and developing the physical confidence that no classroom or simulation can replicate.
Digital Parks Africa provides the complementary piece: a live, operational data centre where students can observe and understand how the same infrastructure functions in a production environment. Alongside the hands-on OEM experience, students benefit from seeing the full picture – the systems, the workflows, the standards, and the expectations – in the context of a real facility.
Together, Master Power Technologies and Digital Parks Africa provide IBTC DC Academy students with both the training floor and the live environment – a combination that mirrors the actual conditions of professional data centre work.
Sponsoring the 2026 cohort: Recruitment, not training
Beyond providing training facilities, Master Power Technologies and Digital Parks Africa have committed to sponsoring a full candidate cohort for the 2026 intake – making them the first South African organisations in the IBTC DC Academy ecosystem to sponsor candidates at this scale.
The decision reflects a deliberate commercial strategy. By co-funding candidate places on the programme, Master Power Technologies and Digital Parks Africa gain early access to a pool of trained, certified individuals who have already demonstrated their capabilities in a live DC environment during their internship. Rather than advertising for experienced staff in a competitive market, the companies can observe candidates performing real work before making any hiring decision.
