The Huawei Cloud Summit Northern Africa has successfully wrapped up, drawing over 600 decision-makers from both public and private sectors across more than 10 countries. The event served as a crucial platform for envisioning the region’s digital future and exploring opportunities for rapid technological advancement.
Since launching its Egypt Region in 2024, Huawei Cloud has experienced remarkable growth in Northern Africa, expanding its footprint by 140% within a year. The platform now supports more than 300 customers and 200 partners engaged in innovative projects, while also training over 15,000 developers to accelerate the region’s shift towards intelligent digital solutions. Huawei Cloud has established itself as the leading public cloud provider in the region.
“The global shift driven by AI offers Northern Africa a unique opportunity to reach a major technological milestone. We aim to reduce adoption barriers by providing inclusive, accessible, and industry-enriched cloud and AI technologies, enabling each country in the region to build an intelligent cloud infrastructure and bring all sectors into the era of intelligence,” said Jacqueline Shi, President of Huawei Cloud Global Marketing and Sales Service.
At the summit, Huawei unveiled its ‘Five Inclusives’ strategy — covering connectivity, public services, education, security, and energy — which leverages cutting-edge cloud and AI technologies to promote affordable, accessible, and secure digital development. This initiative aims to drive a true technological leap across the region.
Focusing on industry-specific transformation, Felix Feng, President of Huawei Cloud Northern Africa, outlined the company’s three strategic axes: enabling efficient deployment and management of cloud solutions; blending global best practices with local insights to deliver high-value sector solutions; and providing advanced AI development infrastructure to help regional companies become pioneers in artificial intelligence.
Further cementing its regional commitment, Jo Xu announced the planned opening of a new availability zone in Huawei Cloud’s Cairo Region in 2026, which will enhance service capacity and quality for customers across Northern Africa. Meanwhile, Juan Yong showcased Huawei Cloud’s full-stack AI innovations, including the ModelArts Studio platform, GaussDB, CodeArts, and MetaStudio, designed to accelerate AI model development and deployment.
In response to increasing demand for secure, reliable, and flexible cloud services, Hu Hang introduced Huawei Cloud Stack 8.5, a hybrid cloud solution offering over 120 preconfigured services to support advanced technologies such as cloud native architectures, data lakes, and AI.
The summit also highlighted Huawei’s ‘Cloud for Good’ philosophy, demonstrating its commitment to social and environmental sustainability. An example is Egypt’s startup Intella, which developed the world’s most accurate Arabic speech recognition engine thanks to Huawei Cloud’s resources, including cloud credits and advanced speech recognition technology. The platform now supports 25 Arabic dialects and sets new standards in language processing.
On the educational front, Huawei Cloud partnered with Egypt’s IT industry bodies and universities to incorporate AI, cloud, 5G, and big data into curricula. The Egypt Developers Community Appointment programme was launched, offering soft skills training and freelancing opportunities. A notable success is Manetho, the winner of Huawei’s Egypt Developer Competition 2024, who created an AI-powered hieroglyph translation app now deployed at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and planned for the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Looking forward, Huawei Cloud reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with regional customers and partners to foster the digital and intelligent transformation across sectors such as education, public services, connectivity, and security, aiming to build a smarter, more sustainable Northern Africa.
