Moroccan authorities have announced plans to create 20,000 jobs through the new Casablanca Tech Valley, a major technology hub launched in the Sidi Othmane district.
The facility aims to position itself as a centre for offshoring, information technology, and digital skills development, contributing significantly to Morocco’s digital transformation.
The partnership agreement for the project’s implementation was signed last week between Nabila Rmili, President of the Casablanca Municipal Council, and Khalid Safir, CEO of the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion (CDG) group. The project will be developed by Ewane, a subsidiary of CDG, covering an initial 4 hectares that can be expanded to 13.7 hectares. The first building is scheduled to be completed by 2026.
Aligned with Morocco’s national ‘Digital Morocco 2030’ strategy, the project forms part of a broader vision to create approximately 190,000 jobs by 2026 and 270,000 by 2030. The government emphasizes establishing a simple, attractive incentive framework tailored to digital industries and developing infrastructure to support outsourcing and digital exports.
Morocco also aims to significantly enhance its digital skills pool, targeting the training of 20,000 digital talents annually by 2026 — a figure that will increase to 45,000 per year by 2030. Additionally, the country plans to retrain up to 50,000 people each year by the end of the decade.
More than just a technology park, the Casablanca Tech Valley could serve as a model for similar initiatives in other Moroccan cities, promoting regional decentralization of digital opportunities. The success of this hub could also encourage multinational companies to outsource more activities to Morocco, strengthening its position in global value chains and accelerating the creation of skilled jobs — particularly for young people increasingly trained in digital professions across the country.
