The Senegalese government has unveiled a pilot project aimed at establishing an inter-ministerial and interoperable data exchange platform.
This initiative is designed to enhance administrative coordination through a secure digital system that will streamline the flow of information among various public institutions. The national deployment of this platform is slated for between 2025 and 2027.
The project is part of the New Technology Deal’s digital public infrastructure program, developed in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). It is built on a technical framework that emphasizes data security, a clear governance structure, and a comprehensive training program to facilitate the adoption of the new system.
The anticipated outcomes of the platform include reducing administrative redundancies, expediting operational procedures, and providing decision-makers with more reliable data to inform public policies. Additionally, it aims to enhance transparency in government operations. However, the project’s success hinges on the adoption rates among government departments, the security of data exchanges, and the effectiveness of achieving seamless interoperability between different systems.
Senegal is positioning itself as a technology hub with an ambitious investment plan of 1,105 billion CFA francs by 2034. This strategic vision includes digitizing and connecting administrative services, which is essential for improving public sector efficiency.
